Shop tax free in Belgium

The VAT rate in Belgium is 21% for standard products, 12% for margarine and 6% for food and books. Remember that you should spend a minimum amount of EUR 50,00 to be eligible to claim your VAT refund.  If you are older than 18 years and your permanent residence is outside the EU, then you will be eligible for tax free shopping.

Exceptions:

If you are buying tobacco you will not be able to claim your refund. Moreover, all services which you have enjoyed in Belgium such as train tickets, bus rides, restaurant or hotel bills, are not eligible for refund.
